Copy and paste an AI photo editing prompt, then adapt it to your reference photo. The prompt explains what should change and what should stay. Start with a subject, choose a setting, describe the light, then add a short list of details to preserve. EditPrompt brings those choices together in original starter templates for portraits, couples, birthdays and cinematic scenes. These templates have not been tested against specific image models; use them as editable instructions, not examples of verified results.
Free prompt copy and paste: text, not an image editor
The photo editing prompts on EditPrompt are free to read and copy. Choose Copy prompt, replace the bracketed details, then paste the text with your reference photo into an image editor. Copying a prompt or sharing its link does not upload a photo or generate an image here. Use the custom prompt generator when you want text built from your own scene choices. External image apps set their own access rules and usage limits.
How to use a photo editing prompt
Choose a template below or open a collection for a more specific look. Replace every bracketed field before submitting it to an external image editing app. For edits of an existing photo, choose an app that accepts reference images and upload a clear photo you own or have permission to use. EditPrompt provides the text; image generation and editing happen in the app you choose.
- Start with a sharp reference photo where the subject is easy to see.
- Specify one main change, such as a new background or a different lighting style.
- Describe clothing, framing and background separately so the request is easy to adjust.
- Review the result before sharing it, especially faces, hands and written text.
Make the prompt fit your photo
Replace a generic mood such as aesthetic with a visible choice: warm window light, a plain blue background, or a waist-up frame. Keep details that matter to you explicit, including hairstyle, glasses and clothing coverage. Asking an editor to retain identity is an instruction, not a guarantee. Results depend on the app, model, reference image and settings.
Fix one problem at a time
If the edit changes too much, shorten the prompt and ask for a single change. If a face looks different, return to the original reference and reduce changes to pose, viewing angle and lighting. If signs or names are misspelled, generate an image with empty space and add the text afterward in a text editor. Check image-input options before trying a template in ChatGPT, Gemini or another app; available features can differ by account and model.
A natural portrait with a new background
Edit the uploaded portrait by replacing only the background with [setting]. Keep the subject's apparent age, facial features, hairstyle, glasses and clothing as close to the reference as possible. Match the background lighting to the existing light on the face. Use a [waist-up / head-and-shoulders] frame, realistic skin texture and restrained colour. Do not add accessories, lettering or extra people.
A clean editorial colour treatment
Give the uploaded photo a restrained editorial colour treatment using [warm neutral / cool blue / soft monochrome] tones. Keep the original composition, people, clothing and setting. Adjust colour and contrast without reshaping faces or bodies. Retain detail in dark clothing and bright areas, and avoid heavy skin smoothing. The result should resemble an edited photograph rather than a painted illustration.
